Spirit of St. Louis Transatlantic Legend

The Ryan NYP, famously known as the Spirit of St. Louis, is an iconic aircraft that captured the world's imagination in the 1920s. Custom-built by Ryan Airlines in San Diego for Charles Lindbergh, this high-wing, single-engine monoplane was designed for the daring purpose of making the first non-stop flight from New York to Paris. On May 20-21, 1927, Lindbergh, aboard the Spirit of St. Louis, made a historic 33.5-hour solo flight across the Atlantic Ocean, covering a distance of approximately 3,600 miles. This remarkable feat not only won Lindbergh the prestigious Orteig Prize but also marked a pivotal moment in aviation history, demonstrating the potential of long-distance air travel. The Spirit of St. Louis became a symbol of courage, innovation, and the spirit of exploration, inspiring generations of aviators and dreamers alike.
